Plans are underway for the Welcome Home event for the 4th Veterans Honor Flight on Tuesday, October 16.
“Due to the overwhelming response and support from the public at previous flights, the Welcome Home Planning committee decided to ask Food Trucks and local Entertainment to join us as we prepare for our Veterans to arrive home after their day in Washington” stated Tracey Glenn, Welcome Home Organizer. “We have secured four Food Trucks including Jordo’s Pizza, La Rana Taco Truck, Easy Street So Co Food, and Grill Talk, so there will be plenty of menu options
available.”
A portion of all food sales will be donated to Veterans Honor Flight to help fund future flights. “While the public enjoys their dinner, they can listen to the local talents of Matt Basler, Kali Bonner, and the JOY Singers from Marion First Baptist Church” stated Jared Garrison of the Planning Committee. “By expanding the food and entertainment schedule, we hope everyone will come out and help us welcome our Veterans home!”
Food Trucks will open at 5pm and Entertainment will begin at 5:30pm.
“The outpouring of support has far exceeded our expectations and for that, we are extremely grateful to the community and organizations that have helped us thus far” stated Glenn. “It is our goal to create a festival atmosphere for the Veterans and their families.”
